BRITISH BODYBOARD CLUB 2011 TOUR SPONSORS AND PRIZES
The British Bodyboard Club is pleased to announce its roster of sponsors for the 2011 Tour.
Chairman Rich Hall said “in the current economic climate where everyone is tightening their belts, it has been quite a task to pull everything together! However, we are pleased to announce that most of our 2010 sponsors have renewed their commitment to British Bodyboarding; alongside which we have some new backers“.
“The Auto-Sleepers Group is again providing foundation funding for the tour, and without their help we couldn’t have progressed British Bodyboarding in the way we have in the last few years. So a big round of thanks to Geoff Scott and the guys in Broadway who continue to stand behind us in difficult times”.
Re-joining the 2011 sponsor line-up is Bodyboard HQ in Portreath who have taken the slot for the headline sponsors of the biggest event in the competition calendar – the British Nationals in Porthtowan.
As far as the 2 new events on the tour are concerned, Coleraine Borough Council and the Causeway Surf Club have given support to run the inaugural Portrush Stopover in NI sponsored by the BBC itself. After the successful Flow-Ho-Ho Christmas Flowrider event, The Pit and NMD are teaming up to jointly sponsor the new North Kernow challenge event in May.
The Wedge Airshow at Tolcarne this year is to be sponsored by The Bodyboard-Depot, Rob Barber’s venture into the world of bodyboard retail with support from the Kahuna restaurant.
The BBC’s end of season tour winners’ sponsorship is also being underwritten by The Bodyboard-Depot. There will be a comprehensive package for the Open tour winner to represent the UK at the GQS event at Confital in December. Sponsorship will also be provided for the DK and Women’s tour winners to attend the event too. Further details with regards to this will be released shortly.
Rich continued “I think it’s a really strong package for 2011 and it’s been pleasing to see so many new and established businesses with an interest in the sport stepping up and putting their hard-earned cash behind bodyboarding”.
The provisional competition schedule is:
Event 1: 9 April – The BBC Portrush Stopover, Portrush. (Completed).
Event 2: 14/15 May – The PIT/NMD North Kernow challenge, Constantine/Harlyn.
Event 3: 2/3 July – Bodyboard-Depot Wedge Air Show, supported by The Kahuna Restaurant, Tolcarne, Newquay.
Event 4: 2/3 or 9/10 September – The Greenaway Pro, St Ives
Event 5: 8-9 October – The Bodyboard HQ British Nationals, Porthtowan.
