ABOUT US
The British Bodyboard Club (‘BBC’) is a non-profit making organisation spear-heading bodyboarding in the UK. We represent the interests of our members and the wider sport of bodyboarding both within the British Surfing Association (our sport’s NGB - National Governing Body), and to the wider surfing and bodyboarding world.

The BBC has been about in various guises for the best part of two decades, but only in the last 2-3 years has the club started to exercise any serious degree of influence over bodyboarding in the UK. Our constitution (to be found elsewhere on the site) clearly sets out our aims and objectives and we would encourage all members to familiarise themselves with it. We try to be a fair and objective voice in a sporting world that evokes much passion and sometimes controversy; always promoting bodyboarding but without denigrating other disciplines of surfing.

We are now the first port of call for media and NGB enquiries about bodyboarding in the UK; and (amongst other things) organise and facilitate the National Championships on behalf of the BSA.

The managing committee (made up of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, BSA Rep and a number of Non-Portfolio members) aim to represent all aspects of the sport; from underground riders to Professionals; Media, Sponsors, Retail and Coaching. We aspire to bring a balanced skill-set to the management of the club, blending a ‘hands-on’ passion for our sport with a degree of commercial nous that is not always apparent in the surfing world.

The Management committee is unpaid and though the committee have the option to draw expenses for their time and expenditure, rarely do. The Club is funded entirely through memberships and corporate sponsorship; we do not currently receive grants from any central or local government bodies, the lottery or our NGB.

We value the contribution of our members, for whom we hope membership demonstrates real value for money; and our sponsors for whom we strive to give a tangible return-on-investment – whether this is in direct sales, media exposure, brand recognition or extreme sport affiliation.
